DESCRIPTION:Our Second stop for Subject Matters: On the Road is Manze in Melbourne. You will find us at Shop 2/1/5 Errol St\, North Melbourne VIC 3051 on the 8th of March. \nThe topic of conversation will build on the 2025 Canberra theme: ‘How to build a sustainable career in hospitality’ and using our speakers insight and experience to help have the hard conversations which will foster growth in our industry. \n“Waking up each day in an industry that is eternally struggling\, with staff who are burnt out\, owners who are tired and a lack of drive to push on can make it hard to be excited about the future. \nHospitality is in a crisis right now\, so many people left the industry post covid when job security was at an all time low. The rebuild is taking much longer then we imagined. How do you get people to fall back in love with an industry that takes so much passion to stay in?  \nHaving people see opportunities\, pathways or ideas that can get them re-excited about what their career could like. Bringing mentors or people that we look up to in the industry together and to you\, for you. Breaking the barriers of that could never be me\, to that could be me. Sovereignty was never ceded. Always was and always will be Aboriginal Land. \nClassic Cocktails: The Power of Modifiers \nJoin Alex Moncrieff (Such and Such) and Lucy Mannix (Volstead Repeal/Rizla) at Such and Such on the 12th of April from 4pm. \nDiscover how small changes can transform a cocktail. In this interactive tasting\, we’ll explore classic cocktails both with and without modifiers to reveal the dramatic impact these ingredients have on balance\, aroma\, and flavour. \nUsing elements such as herbal liqueurs\, bitters\, saline solutions\, tinctures\, and both sweet and dry vermouth\, we’ll demonstrate how bartenders fine-tune drinks to create depth and complexity. Guests will taste side-by-side variations while learning how each modifier alters structure\, sweetness\, bitterness\, and texture. \nPerfect for any level of knowledge\, this session offers a deeper understanding of how the subtle details turn a good drink into a great one. \nFiner details: \nVV education events are for women including those who are AFAB\, non-binary and with trans experience. We are delighted to welcome Mount Majura\, Ravensworth\, Intrepidus\, Vintners Daughter and Vino Friendo to show some wines and help you find a new favourite. \nSpeed tasting – how does that work? \nGet a group of friends say 3-4 of you together\, book a spot and you will get 10 minutes with each producer to find out more about them\, their wines and taste their products too. You will be able to purchase wine to take home and be able to impress your friends with your local wine knowledge. \nWhat does my ticket get me?  \nTastes of a minimum 15 wines\, small group time with local winemakers\, snacks and water. \nA chance to connect with women* in the Canberra community who care about where their wine comes from. \nWho are Venus Vinifera events for?  \nVV is for women* including those who are AFAB\, non-binary and with trans experience. This workshop will allow guests to learn which amaro and which pairings they prefer\, with suggestions provided but exploration encouraged.\nWe’ll start the session with a Select Spritz upon arrival\, and end with a brief discussion of local amaro production. \nThis event will be held at Such and Such\, over a long table where conversation with each other is encouraged.\nBring your friends\, bring your mum and get your aperitivo on!  \nNitty gritty:\n– Such and Such is wheelchair is accessible but the bathrooms are not\, their are wheelchair accessible bathrooms in the building.\n– Tickets are free for First Nations people\, please reach out gday@venusvinifera.com.au for yours.\n– VV events are for AFAB\, non-binary and those with trans experience.
