Subject Matters: On the Road
Our Second stop for Subject Matters: On the Road is Manze in Melbourne. You will find us at Shop 2/1/5 Errol St, North Melbourne VIC 3051 on the 8th of March.
The topic of conversation will build on the 2025 Canberra theme: ‘How to build a sustainable career in hospitality’ and using our speakers insight and experience to help have the hard conversations which will foster growth in our industry.
“Waking up each day in an industry that is eternally struggling, with staff who are burnt out, owners who are tired and a lack of drive to push on can make it hard to be excited about the future.
Hospitality is in a crisis right now, so many people left the industry post covid when job security was at an all time low. The rebuild is taking much longer then we imagined. How do you get people to fall back in love with an industry that takes so much passion to stay in?
Having people see opportunities, pathways or ideas that can get them re-excited about what their career could like. Bringing mentors or people that we look up to in the industry together and to you, for you. Breaking the barriers of that could never be me, to that could be me. Slowly slowly, step by step.”
The following topics will be explored:
What made you choose a job in hospitality?
How has your lived experience facilitated the desire to build a sustainable career?
How can we inspire new (and casual) staff to join and stay in the industry?
What positive change have you seen recently in the industry?
What are some changes you would like to see?
