Nic Lewis Panelist
Nic has spent 19 years working as a psychologist in Australia’s toughest industries. As Director at Resilience Health and Safety, she specialises in workplace mental health and psychological safety, particularly in high-risk environments.
Her career has taken her across five countries as a fly-in, fly-out consultant, working everywhere from remote mining sites to government agencies, witnessing firsthand how toxic workplace cultures devastate lives and businesses alike. This experience shaped her mission: creating workplaces where people don’t just survive, but thrive.
In 2019, Nichole partnered with His Boy to design their program, Healthier Hospitality, focussed on addressing the mental health crisis within the industry and ensuring venues aren’t just legally compliant, but genuinely safe spaces for everyone who walks through their doors. The programme tackles hospitality’s toughest challenges, particularly around psychosocial risk: workplace harassment, burnout, patron aggression, and staff retention. Combining mental health literacy with practical risk management, Nic’s approach empowers employers, employees, and patrons to build connected communities. Nic’s innovative programs have been adopted by major national and multinational corporations.
Her work earned a 2024 nomination for the Australian Institute of Health and Safety Award, recognising her exceptional contribution to building capacity among health and safety professionals. Her dual expertise in clinical psychology and organisational safety positions her uniquely to address hospitality’s complex challenges, from creating harassment-free environments to supporting workers through trauma and building the bystander confidence that transforms workplace culture.
