A wine, spirit + beer education community for women*

Including non-binary, AFAB, and those with trans experience

Our Story

Venus Vinifera began as a small group of women* sharing bottles that we loved together after our founder Caitlin Baker decided that it was time for a space that we could call our own.

VV has transformed into a formalised education community, providing sessions in wine, spirits and beer with industry professionals from across Australia. We aim to also provide support and guidance to young people in the industry via our mentor program.

VV is not just for those who work in hospitality, but for any woman who wants the chance to learn more and be part of a supportive and safe community.

  • MISSION

We are a collective of drink minded women.

  • VISION

To improve the education and community for women
in wine, spirits and beer.

  • VALUES

Inclusive, supportive, education, safe, respect, nurture, community building, exciting, sustainable, fun, transparent

Subject Matters

As part of our yearly programming we run two events for both community and allies.

Subject Matters Symposium is an annual conversation with leading lights in their relevant fields. Its aim is to have the hard conversations, inspire the next generation and create new relationships.

Hosted at the NFSA, 2024 saw a diverse range of speakers from across different areas of hospitality. The three conversations we focused on were Women in Beverage, Women in Business and Women for Inclusivity and Safety.

Some speakers included: Jamie Bucirde of Not So Hospitable, Coco Retter of Bacardi, Meesh Dale-Cully of Wildflower and Pink Boots, Arika Errington of Tukka by the Bush and Mini Gaundar of Ramas.

FRENZY

FRENZY is our beverage party, showcasing 25+ producers from across the country of wine, beer and spirits. A new way to create connections and taste what’s happening in the beverage space each year.

Hosted in collaboration with Such and Such, the events cascades out onto the lawns outside. We invite local dj’s to play, host food trucks and work closely with a diverse range of producers with an emphasis on women*.

Some producers and portfolios we have hosted included: Vivant Solutions, Sabi Wabi, Pride of Lunatics, Lofi, Foreign Fruits, GENIE, Vino Friendo, Little Reddie, Bandicoot Run and Borachio.

Code Of Conduct

To be a member of VV means to want to be in a safe and inclusive educational environment. Every person who is at our events or uses our online resources deserves this. We have no tolerance for antisocial behaviour, discrimination or harassment. To be part of this community is to accept this code of conduct and adhere to it at all times. Please join us in keeping this a safe space.

If you want to talk to someone further about this or have any feedback for us please email hello@venusvinifera.com.au.
